Visual Aquity Series: sculptures

Many people experience the loss of sight or clarity. The day-to-day stresses and remedies for such difficulties or conditions are what I find myself researching and exploring with this work in mixed media sculpture.

The conical forms relate directly to the physiological “cones and rods” of the eye, the light sensitive cells at the back of the retina. Coiled wire mesh, interlaced bamboo and handmade paper pulp are used here to convey  visual impairment of various degrees such as common night blindness.
